Catherine Aitken


After working in marketing management in Calgary for over 30 years, I was ready for a change. Photography had always been a hobby but now I worked for my professional accreditation and chose the Kootenays as my place. When I photograph wildlife I always try to capture them and show them in their natural habitat with as little intrusion from me and my camera as possible. It is important that we understand that they are not isolated but an active part of the Kootenay Lake environment. As well we are surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscape and weather anywhere. This too is fragile and so special. I hope my photographs convey some of the magic of this area and remain a gentle reminder of all we could lose.
